Minecraft: Java Edition players will be required to have a Microsoft Account
At the end of 2020, Mojang Studios, the developer of the hit game Minecraft, unexpectedly revealed a plan to convert all Mojang user accounts (Mojang Accounts) to Microsoft Accounts (Microsoft Accounts).
The deadline to apply the switch is March 10, 2022. This means that Minecraft: Java Edition players and individuals using Minecraft Launcher on PC will soon have to have a Microsoft account as a requirement. .
Until recently, some people continued to keep their Mojang Account to play the game as usual. However, by March 10, all such accounts will be decommissioned simultaneously. The Microsoft account required to play Minecraft: Java Edition will be completely free, and the initialization process is also quite simple.
Furthermore, switching from Mojang Account to Microsoft Account offers some clear benefits for the stopper. For instance, there will be additional layers of security through two-factor authentication, the ability to link different games in the Minecraft 'universe' to the same account, improved parental controls , as well as block chat messages and invitations. A Microsoft account will give users access to Minecraft: Java Edition, Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, and Minecraft Dungeons through a launcher, all of which require only a single sign-in process.
Other than switching to a Microsoft account, nothing will change in the user experience. All game data, including usernames, progress and skins will remain intact.
Minecraft: Java Edition is now available via PC Game Pass, along with other Minecraft games from Mojang, as well as the unified Minecraft Launcher. Players who complete the account migration process will be eligible for a free cloak as a reward for their in-game character. However, to ensure a seamless process and for the best experience, the developers recommend that users create a free account before the 10th of March mentioned above.
