Microsoft: 100% of PCs in Vietnam are infected with malware
Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam are 4 countries with 100% PC infection rate. Microsoft tried to buy 10 computers from Vietnam's retail facilities, all with malicious code.
The "Digital trust building" event hosted by Microsoft Asia took place on October 30 and attracted the participation of the Asian press. At this event, Microsoft Asia published data on the impact of pirated software use on the network security platform of many Asian countries, especially Vietnam.
According to the study results "Survey of PC situation in Asian market" conducted from May 5-7 / 2018 by a team of graduate students at the National University of Singapore, compared to the European region of the infection rate malware in the Asian market is much higher than 83%.
Especially, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam are 4 countries with 100% PC infection rate. Microsoft tried to buy 10 computers from Vietnam's retail facilities, all with malicious code.
According to Microsoft Director of Cyber Crime Prevention (DCU), Vietnam is now in the "low-lying" area of Asia's network security.
Microsoft thinks the cause of this is because retailers have installed pirated software on their own products to make a profit. Malware and trojans can easily penetrate devices disabled by Windows Defender. Most devices of this type are priced quite soft and almost no additional maintenance costs should be used by many users to buy without knowing that they are malicious code. And if unfortunately stolen personal information, users may have to spend a larger amount of money intended to solve the consequences.
At this event, the Business Security Association (BSA), after conducting tests on 2,000 businesses in the Asia-Pacific region, also concluded that the use of older computers over 4 years is not detailed. save.
Specifically, the machines with a life expectancy of more than 4 years of age will cost about $ 2,000 / year to maintain equipment. This money can buy 2 new PCs.
However, up to 85% of medium-sized businesses, with more than 500 employees in the Asia-Pacific region currently use devices over 4 years old. In the last year, 67% of small and medium enterprises have problems with security but only 15% of them report on these attacks.
According to BSA, Vietnam is second only to China in the top 9 Asian countries using the most pirated software. In 2013, the rate of using malware in Vietnam was 90%. This rate has dropped to 70% in 2017.
According to data from Microsoft, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are the two cities leading the number of computers infected with malicious code in the country.
