Google launches new Chrome OS that can run on old Windows and Mac computers

Google has officially allowed early access to a new version of Chrome OS called Chrome OS Flex. The new operating system called Chrome OS Flex is created for business and school environments.

This new version of Chrome OS is designed for schools and businesses, and best of all, it can run on older Windows and Mac computers. As announced by Google, users can install Chrome OS Flex in a few minutes.

Google shares that Chrome OS Flex looks and feels similar to Chrome OS on Chromebook devices because it's built on the same code base and adheres to the same release cadence. Google also forewarned that some features of Chrome OS Flex may depend on the hardware you're using. This means that some features like the always-on Google Assistant and Android phone sync may not work if the hardware doesn't support it.

Before launching Chrome OS Flex, Google acquired Neverware. This Neverware company specializes in providing an application called CloudReady that allows users to convert their old computer into a system running Chrome OS. This has contributed to helping Google accelerate the launch of Chrome OS Flex.

The launch of Chrome OS Flex both helps Google and benefits everyone. With Google, Chrome OS Flex will contribute to making Chrome OS operating system more popular, known and used by more people. For everyone, Chrome OS Flex helps take advantage of older Windows and Mac models, which are no longer powerful enough to run native operating systems.

If you want to test Chrome OS Flex, you can learn more on Google's Chrome Enterprise page. You should keep in mind that this operating system is still in early beta so there may be many bugs.
