All you need to know about OxygenOS 11
Over the past several months, OnePlus has revealed OxygenOS 11, the next version of the Android UI for OnePlus phones. Compared to a few previous versions, OxygenOS 11 got a significant update.
OxygenOS 11 is not yet set for an official launch date, but we can still get a glimpse of this latest OnePlus UI.
New interface
Either way, OxygenOS 11 marks a major design milestone compared to previous generations. This new version has more in common with Samsung's One UI than the pure Android version. One of the key elements in the updated look is the new font, which OnePlus says will help improve readability on the phone.
OnePlus has redesigned the interface, making them easier to use with one hand. You can set the distance between items on the phone. In addition, function buttons and interface components have also been placed in more suitable positions.
Show always-on
OnePlus is finally adding always-on display on its phones. You can check the time or notifications on the always-on screen without touching the phone. In addition, the device also tells you how many times a day you have unlocked your phone.
Dark mode improved
OxygenOS 11 introduced a few new settings on the Dark Mode function. To make the various interface elements easier to read and distinguish when Dark Mode was active, OnePlus tweaked the feature to use more dark gray.
The update will also help create Dark Mode activation times, allowing you to set the feature to turn on and off automatically, depending on the time of day. You'll also get the option to quickly toggle Dark Mode from the quick settings menu accessed by dragging down the notification bar.
Update the application
The new look wouldn't be complete without the right apps, so OnePlus has also updated most of its apps with lots of new features. For example, the Gallery app automatically creates weekly news stories with photos and videos you've taken over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Zen mode has three new themes and grouping features.
Weather app also has many changes. Its new interface focuses more on the current date, with information like the possibility of more rain in the foreground and middle section.
Android 11
OxygenOS 11 is built on top of Android 11. This means a lot of settings and improvements for this latest OS will be coming along with OxygenOS.
OxygenOS 11 release date
OxygenOS 11 is currently in the final stages of testing. OnePlus has yet to make an official announcement about the release date of OxygenOS 11 but it will most likely be late 2020.
These devices can be supported by OxygenOS 11
OnePlus hasn't made an official list of OxygenOS 11 supported devices yet, but we can guess from its old policy. In 2018, OnePlus has committed to supporting software updates for up to 24 months. So we can guess the following devices will be upgraded to OxygenOS 11:
