Vietnamese hackers collect phone numbers of more than 267 million Facebook users?

On December 14, security researcher Bob Diachenko discovered a database of more than 267,140,436 Facebook users, mostly in the United States, on a forum that gathered hackers. This data includes personal information and phone numbers of Facebook users, they are not encrypted and are shared publicly.

It is worth mentioning, Diachenko said that hackers with IP addresses in Vietnam illegally collected this database in order to deceive the Facebook user party.

Diachenko said it is possible that personal data of users leaked through API vulnerabilities, which allow application developers to see information such as friends list, photos, etc. of each account. accounts, or security holes.

After 2 weeks of being shared publicly on the forum, this database is currently locked.

A Facebook spokesperson said they were investigating the cause of the data of more than 267 million users being exposed. This person said that this data was collected from 2018, before Facebook updated the user's privacy.

Previously, Facebook has repeatedly faced scandals of exposing user data. One of the most serious cases was Cambride Analytic, which affected 87 million users.
