The meaning of status icons on Windows Phone 8.1

If you have used WP for a while, you probably already know the icons in the status bar of Windows Phone, it is on the top of the screen. These status icons give you instant information about network connectivity, signal strength, battery level, hours and more.

Today let's take a look at them so you can understand the meaning of each icon on WP8.1 update.

The presentation will go from left to right of the status bar icon.

Mobile network signal strength

This will be the symbol that shows the state of your mobile wave. Below is a list of mobile network states including:

    Very strong signal

    Strong signal

    There is no signal because the phone is not connected to the mobile network.

    Phone is in Airplane mode. Mobile networks, Wi-Fi, FM radio, Bluetooth and NFC sharing are all off when you turn on Flight mode. ( You can still turn on Wi-Fi, FM radio, Bluetooth and NFC sharing separately ).

Quiet hours

Quiet Time icon (

) appears when Quiet Time is enabled in Cortana's settings. However Cortana is only available on Windows Phone 8.1 and is only available in some countries / regions.

Roaming

Roaming icon (

) tells you your phone is roaming and not your local mobile network.
