Earlier this year, there were many rumors about OpenAI developing a specialized ChatGPT application for mobile users. Fortunately, that's no longer a rumor because the ChatGPT app for iPhone was officially introduced at the end of May and now it's the Android platform's turn.
After months of waiting, the ChatGPT app is finally coming to Android next week. OpenAI announced in a Twitter post that the company has finalized the ChatGPT app for Android, and will soon release it on the Play Store for users to download the experience next week.
Along with the announcement of the Android app, OpenAI also plans to open pre-registration for the app on the Play Store. Google now allows developers to open pre-registration so that the app is automatically downloaded to the device as soon as it is available on the Play Store.
Over the past months, OpenAI has been working continuously to improve the overall experience of ChatGPT based on user feedback.
Previously, OpenAI had no plans to launch a ChatGPT mobile app, but the tool's unimaginable popularity is the reason why the company is "turning the wheel". In addition, Sensor Tower and Similarweb statistics also show that web traffic and ChatGPT app installs have decreased in June. And in the past few days, some users have publicly complained about GPT-4 becoming 'slower and less accurate'. OpenAI responded with information that they are continuing to update the APIs.
