After the installation is complete, Windows 10 21H2 (build number 19044.1862) will be moved to Windows 10 22H2 (build number 19045.1862).

Although Microsoft has not announced the release yet (both in the beta channel and in the official channel), you can download the activation pack directly from the Windows Update server.

All it takes to upgrade from Windows 10 21H2 to 22H2 is the KB5015684 cumulative update that is just 177KB in size. This is not the first time Windows 10 22H2 has appeared before the official announcement. In June 2022, optional updates for Windows 10 confirmed that version 22H2 was coming. Alternatively, you can also convert Windows 10 21H2 to version 22H2 with a few commands in PowerShell.

Those who don't like Windows 11 can now download the latest version of Windows 10 without any software commands or tricks.

However, the best and safest strategy is to wait for Microsoft to announce Windows 10 22H2 and receive the update via Windows Update. However, if you're willing to take the risk you can directly download update KB5015684.

Before installing the update, make sure that your computer has installed the June 2022 cumulative updates (build 1904x.1806 or later).
