How to Hide IP Address
If you don't want to be tracked while using the internet, you can hide your IP address. There are several ways to do this with varying degrees of ease and reliability. Follow these instructions to stay anonymous online.
Learn Proxies
Learn how IP addresses work. Every time you access the internet, your computer is assigned a series of numbers called an IP (Internet Protocol) address. This IP address is transmitted to the server you visit and used to log into that server, leaving a trace of your actions.
Learn the basics of proxies. A proxy is a server you connect to to 'get out' of the network. You connect to the proxy and route the traffic through it, so that the IP is hidden and the traffic appears to come from the proxy server.
Understand the types of proxies. You will come across many types of proxies as you research. Each type provides a certain level of anonymity, some with greater security. There are 4 main types of proxies:
Web proxy: the most common and simple way to use a proxy. You connect to the server through a browser to surf the web anonymously.
Open proxies: These are proxy servers that are accidentally left open or attacked by hackers. They are often unsafe and host malware. You are advised to avoid using open proxies.
Anonymous network. This is a private network operated by users who donate bandwidth. They are usually slow, since anyone can store the bandwidth they are quite safe.
Paid proxy software, like IP Hider Ever, is used to hide your IP address so you can hide your internet traffic and real location while surfing the web. Software like IP Hider Ever keeps people from knowing what you do online. You can surf the web freely without worrying about revealing information. But the main question is whether you trust the company that produces the software.
VPN (Virtual Private Network): This is a personal network where you connect directly to a proxy server maintained by a proxy company or organization.
Proxy Chain. Currently, the hardest to trace VPNs use TOR, where all network traffic is redirected to use TOR. This redirection is made simple with iptables built into Linux. If you don't want to set up a proxy chain yourself or you're using Windows or OS, you can download the iProxyEver software instead.
Use VPN Software
Download and install VPN (Virtual Private Network) software. You need administrator access on your computer to do this. VPN software requires registration. In return, you can use thousands of anonymous IP addresses.
VPNs provide a higher level of encryption than web proxies.
VPNs work with all network traffic on your computer, including messaging and file transfers. While web proxies only work through the browser.
Set up VPN settings manually. You should not download the software but should enter the connection details for the VPN yourself, you can set up the VPN from the Windows control panel. Select Internet Options. You still need an IP address to connect.
In the Connections tab, select Add VPN. This will open the VPN window. Enter the IP you are connecting to.
If the VPN requires a username and password, you will have to enter them in the corresponding fields.
Use Proxy on the Web
Find the proxy list. Web proxies are useful when you are away from your computer, because everything is done through the browser, so this method works regardless of the computer's operating system. Your IP address is hidden because only the proxy server's IP is passed to the website.
Some websites list proxies that can be used. Proxy.org is an ideal starting site and regularly updates the list.
Proxy listing sites like Proxify may be blocked on school or work networks. Visit that website at home and copy 10-15 proxy pages to try on the blocked computer.
Proxies that are used frequently will be detected and blocked, so you should change them daily.
Using a proxy will significantly slow down your browser. Because the traffic is rerouted through the proxy, reinterpreted, and then sent to your location. Video and web loading times may take longer than usual.
Select proxy site. If this site is blocked, try another site. When choosing a site from the list, try sites that are geographically close to where you live. This will minimize speed reduction.
Check the URL box. Enter the website address you want to visit. Because the proxy site reinterprets the website data you want to visit, it is likely that the website will not load correctly. You can hardly watch the video. In that case, try another proxy site.
As long as you continue to surf the web through the proxy, your IP address will always be hidden from the websites you visit.
Configure your browser to surf the web through a proxy server. Instead of visiting a website and entering a URL into their form, you can configure your web browser to automatically hide your IP address through a proxy server. This type of service requires downloading and installing a browser plug-in. For example, the Switchproxy extension on Mozilla Firefox, hides the user's entire IP address and randomly assigns it to another IP.
