How to get Trident in Minecraft, how to use Trident in Minecraft
The Trident will make Minecraft players the king of the sea, especially when they have to face terrifying underwater mobs like the Drowned and Guardians in the Ocean Monument. Luckily, the Trident is quite easy to come by, and this weapon will bring a whole new way of fighting and entertaining in Minecraft.
Getting the Trident can require a bit of luck (RNG), but it's always worth it, especially when players use "top-notch" Enchantments on the Trident in Minecraft, making it extremely powerful with countless different ways of fighting or moving.
How to get Trident in Minecraft
To get a Trident in Minecraft, players must kill and loot a Drowned Zombie that is holding a Trident. Drowned Zombies only spawn underwater, so it is best for players to 'dive' into the ocean and stick close to the bottom to find them. While most Drowned Zombies spawn empty, there is a good chance that they will spawn with a Trident.
- For Java Edition users: There is a 6.25% chance that a Drowned Zombie will spawn with a Trident, and an 8.5% chance that a Drowned Zombie will drop a Trident when killed.
- For Bedrock Edition users: There is a 15% chance a Drowned Zombie will spawn with a Trident, and a 25% chance they will drop the Trident when killed.
When hunting for Tridents, it's always a good idea to use a Sword with Looting III enchantment. Looting III increases the chance of mobs dropping the item they're holding, and in this case, it provides a buff of about 3% that definitely makes a difference.
How to Fix Trident in Minecraft
Now that the player has a Trident from the Drowned Zombie, they may be a little disappointed to see that its durability is quite low. Don't worry, because there is a way to get a fully repaired Trident, and all the player needs to do is find another Trident.
Players can combine two Tridents together at a Grindstone or Anvil to combine their durability, allowing the Trident to last longer before breaking. It is best to use the Anvil, as it will retain enchantments.
The "Top" Enchantments for Trident in Minecraft
There are a total of 7 enchantments that players can have on their Trident in Minecraft, but they will only be interested in a few of them. Here are all the enchantments that players will want on their Trident, along with why they are important:
| Enchantment | Effect |
| Impaling V | Impale allows players to deal extra damage to underwater mobs, such as Drowned Zombies and Guardians. With Impale V, this means that each melee attack will deal 6.25 Death, and each ranged attack will deal 6 Death. |
| Loyalty III | The Trident Throw is useful on land or in water for ranged attacks, but having to pick it up every time is a bit annoying. With Loyalty III, the Trident will always return to the player who threw it, never failing, and the enchantment level is only dependent on how fast it returns. |
| Channeling | During a thunderstorm, throwing a trident at a mob will cause lightning to strike them. This can be used to charge up Creepers, turn Villagers into Witches, and turn Pigs into Pig Zombies. It's also useful simply because it deals extra damage. |
| Unbreaking III | This enchantment increases the total durability of the Trident, allowing the player to use it longer before needing repairs. |
| Mending | Repair can only be found in books, but it's great for Tridents because it converts experience points (XP) into durability, meaning Tridents can be used almost indefinitely. |
Riptide is a fun enchantment for the Trident, but it can't be used in conjunction with Lightning and Loyalty, so it's been left off the list. However, if the player wants to zip through water or rain, Riptide is definitely worth using.
How does the Trident work in Minecraft?
The Trident will have the same durability as the Iron Sword, meaning that for every hit the player makes, the durability will decrease by 1. In terms of usage, the Trident is a weapon that can damage mobs and can be thrown like a spear or used to propel the player forward, depending on the enchantment they choose. Players can find the Trident's stats below, including damage and durability for both Bedrock and Java Edition:
| Version | Melee Attack Damage | Long Range Attack Damage | Durability |
| Bedrock | 4.5 Network | 4 Network | 250 |
| Java | 4.5 Network | 4 Network | 251 |
