Basic test
First, you should perform basic hardware testing to make sure everything works well.
Here are a few things you need to check before seeing problems with Word:
- Make sure the USB cable connecting the computer to the printer is connected properly. If it is a wireless printer, make sure the feature is turned on.

- Carefully check the Internet connection (wireless or wired).
- Make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on.
- Check if the printer has a paper jam.
- Make sure the printer is compatible with the computer. Search Google and the printer manufacturer's website for more information.
This seems to be the obvious need for inspection but is sometimes overlooked. It's best to try the basics first to avoid unnecessary waste of time.
Quick solution
This trick does not solve the printing problem, but it will allow you to print from the computer quickly. If you don't have the time to check the problem from Word and need to print the document urgently, you can convert the document into a PDF file, then print it from another application.
To convert a Word document into a PDF file, open the file you want to convert, click File , then click Save As in the left pane.
You will see a box showing the type of document file, click the arrow next to it. In the dropdown menu, click on PDF and then click on Save .
Now, open the file in another program (like Acrobat) and print.
Microsoft print troubleshooter for Windows
Microsoft has a troubleshooter, which you can download and fix. To download this troubleshooter, click on the link below.
http://aka.ms/diag_printer10
Open the tool. On the main page, you will see basic information about what this software can do, click on Next .
If the troubleshooter doesn't find anything, Microsft will suggest running the tool as an administrator, click on it and continue.
A message appears asking you to select the printer that is having the problem. Select it and then click on Next .
The program runs diagnostic and problem solving suggestions. When done, try printing the Word document again.
Install the latest driver
Older drivers often cause printing problems, so make sure you update it to the latest version. There are two ways to update drivers. One is to check the Driver section on the printer manufacturer's website.
The second is to update the PC because Windows can find updated drivers for the printer. To check for updates, click the Start button on your Windows PC and then click the gear icon to open the Settings menu.
In the Settings window, click on the last option in the list, Update & Security .
Click on Windows Update .
If on a Mac, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner and then click Software Update . When the update is complete, try to print the Word document again.
Delete and reinstall the printer in Windows
Another solution is to delete and reinstall the printer. To delete the printer, click Start on Windows computer, then click the gear icon to open the Settings menu.
Click on Devices .
Next, click on Printers & Scanners .
Select the printer you want to delete from the list and then click Remove Device .
Now, to reinstall the printer, click Add a Printer or Scanner at the top of the menu.
Select the printer from the list, then click Install . When the installation is complete, try reprinting the Word document.
Delete and reinstall the printer in MacOS
On a Mac, the procedure for removing and reinstalling the printer is a little different.
To get started, click on the Apple icon in the top left corner, then select System Preferences .
Next, click on Printers & Scanners .
Finally, select the printer you want to delete, then click on the minus sign (-) at the bottom of the screen to delete it.
To reinstall the printer, click the plus sign (+). Select the printer from the list that appears, then click Add .
After reinstalling the printer, try reprinting the Word document.
Low system resources
Low system resources inevitably cause problems when printing documents.
To see if this is a problem from Windows, press the Windows key and then type resource monitor . Press Enter to open the Resource Monitor application.
On a Mac, this application is called Activity Monitor. To find it, press Command
+ space, then type Activity Monitor in the Spotlight search bar.
After opening the application, you can see if low system resources are the cause of printing problems. The easiest way is to restart the computer and then try to print the document again.
I wish you successful implementation!
