Microsoft Copilot has a Copilot button and here's how to use it
Windows Insiders on the Canary and Dev channels will see a new Copilot icon in Paint following the update that's rolling out, and here's how to use it.
Microsoft continues to expand Copilot's presence, this time in the Paint app. Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels will see a new Copilot icon in Paint with the update that's rolling out now, and here's how to use it.
How to Use Copilot on Microsoft Paint
Step 1: To use Copilot on Microsoft Paint, select the Copilot icon on the large toolbar. Next, you will have options including:
- Cocreator: Turn sketches into finished artwork in real-time
- Image Creator: Create impressive images with just a few words, just like you would create a photo on Copilot.
- Generative Erase: Remove objects from images and automatically fill background
- Remove Background: Remove background from your image
Step 2: Choose one of the options in the Copilot button to create photos with text, or sketch photos based on existing photos, or erase objects in photos. All in just a few simple steps.
Microsoft has been steadily adding AI image creation tools to Paint for over a year now. Cocreator (based on DALL-E) arrived in late 2023, followed by AI color fills and image editing features this past fall. Now, all of these tools will be grouped under the Copilot icon, making them easier to find when you need to create clip art or make a quick AI photo edit.
With this change, Paint could now be one of the most useful apps to test Copilot with, making even more sense than integrating into Bing. Also search for photos in the cloud using natural language.
Today's update also brings a major upgrade to the AI Search feature, which debuted in preview earlier this month.
Advanced search will now extend beyond local files to cloud-based photo files. Users can search for photos using natural language, and results will show both local and cloud-based files.
New AI search is rolling out to Windows 11 Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels, making the search experience smarter and more intuitive.
