Facebook is preparing to launch a new type of ad using AR technology, allowing users to interact with the products they want to buy.
Ads on Facebook that use augmented reality technology will be deployed on News Feed and users can try the product advertised through a similar process as Snapchat's filter.
New AR advertising can be used for a variety of products such as fashion accessories, cosmetics and even furniture. Users will be able to interact with the digital version of the products to enable them to visualize what they will look like if used before deciding to purchase through the application.
Compared to other advertisements, the AR ad will look no different except maybe an option to "Tap to try it on", so users will open and experience the AR feature included. .
The new AR advertisement was tested by Facebook with a pair of sunglasses from Michael Kors. Currently, big names like Sephora, Wayfair, Pottery Barn . have registered to use this new advertising.
These AR ads are currently in beta and the first to see these ads are US users.
