Create a shortcut to lock the computer in Windows XP

Network administration - We often use Windows + L key combination to lock the device. This is a fairly fast and useful operation. But have you ever thought that we can create a shortcut that works like Windows + L on the screen?

Here's how to create such a shortcut and manipulate it.

You only need to do the following to create a phone lock shortcut on the screen:
  1. Right click on the screen.
  1. Select New and then click Shortcut .
  1. Then the Create Shortcut Wizard wizard appears. Enter rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation in the box Type the location of the item .
  1. Click the Next button.
  1. Enter an arbitrary name for the Shortcut .
  1. Done clicking Finish .
You can also change the icon for this shortcut. Perform the following actions:
  1. Right-click the shortcut and select Properties .
  1. Select the Shortcut tab, then click the Change Icon button.
Then select the custom icon (if you want to use the icon of Shell32.dll you can enter Shell32.dll into the Look for icons in this file box , or you can create the icon yourself by adjusting the appropriate size. and save as * .ico format then point the path to the file).
  1. Then click OK .
  1. Select one of the icons from the list and click OK .
You can also create a shortcut key like Ctrl + Alt + L to run this shortcut. This shortcut will save you time from a regular command but it will be very convenient. You only need to do the following:
  1. Right-click the shortcut and select Properties .
  1. Select the Shortcut tab.
In the Shortcur key box, enter any key and Windows XP will convert it into a shortcut, usually this key will combine with the Ctrl + Alt keys.
To lock the keyboard and screen, simply double-click the shortcut or press the shortcut key you just created.
