2nd generation Eee PC released

After launching the first Eee PC in January of the beginning of the year, Asus has just announced the second generation of this mini laptop, which is the two models 904HD and 1000H for $ 641 and $ 714 respectively.

The second generation of Eee PC has been upgraded with hardware and software for basic tasks like web browsing, mail browsing, chat, VoIP, virtual social networking .

According to Benson Lin, general manager of Asus in the Asia-Pacific region, Middle East and Africa, after selling the first 10,000 Eee PCs, the company realized that customers needed higher, primary hard drive capacity. so the Eee PC version was born.

The configuration of the new Eee PC is slightly different, but the user object is still the same. Those are ordinary users, need a portable, lightweight but powerful laptop, and importantly, cheap.

The Eee PC 1000H is equipped with a 10-inch screen, Intel Atom chip, Windows XP Home Edition operating system; while the 904HD has an 8.9-inch screen, Intel Mobile chip (Celeron M), running Windows XP Home Edition operating system. Both have more powerful chips, larger hard drives, more RAM, wider keyboards, and better WiFi than the first generation Eee PC. In addition, it also comes with an integrated webcam, 6-cell battery and Windows XP Home operating system.

According to Asus, in addition to the larger hard drive capacity, the battery life is also extended, from 3-6 hours using Super Hybrid Engine Technology and 6-cell battery. The keyboard of the new Eee PC is as big as 95% of the regular laptop keyboard. In addition, they have quick access keys to essential tasks.

The screen of the second generation Eee PC is 1024x600 (WSVGA) although the screen sizes of the two laptops are different (10-inch and 8.9-inch).

The core of the new Eee PC is still Intel Atom ultra-small mobile chip, low energy consumption, and importantly cheaper than conventional products. Machine still using Windows XP operating system is currently very popular. Model 1000H uses 1.6GHz Atom chip while 904HD uses Intel Mobile (Celeron M) 900MHz.
