Windows 10 IoT Core is an operating system platform designed by Microsoft specifically for small sized embedded systems such as washing machines, automatic door locks, and of course, the Rasberry Pi - the device commonly known 'The credit-card-sized computer' (a computer model the size of a credit card).
Most people choose to install Linux on a Raspberry Pi, simply because this is the platform that the Raspberry Pi Foundation recommends. However, if you plan to use the Raspberry Pi for projects related to the Windows environment, you can still install Windows 10 IoT Core instead, despite the fact that this operating system is not officially supported. Raspberry Pi 4 support, or even the previous Raspberry Pi 3 Model B +.
About how to install Windows 10 IoT Core on Raspberry Pi 4, please refer to this article.
Besides Rasberry Pi, you will soon be able to experience Windows Core IoT Core on your pocket computer. That's right, you didn't read it wrong! A developer (nicknamed @imbushuo on Twitter) seems to have successfully installed Windows 10 IoT Core on his HP Prime Graphing Calculator color screen pocket computer.
The photos are completely edited without Twitter account @imbushuo, showing that Windows 10 IoT Core has actually been installed on a compact pocket computer. However, there is still a lot of work to be done because the project is not complete and Windows 10 IoT Core is not yet able to actually work on this device.
It's still unclear how @imbushuo can install Windows 10 IoT Core on an HP Prime Graphing Calculator. This developer is expected to share more details about the project in the coming days. Surely there will still be a lot of work to do before we have a chance to experience a true Windows PC!
