To launch the aviation taxi service, Uber has signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with private airline Joby Aviation based in California, USA with plans to use fully electric flying taxis, called e-VTOLs (flying vehicles take off and land vertically) to transport up to 4 passengers in each trip. The Uber Air service will primarily operate at low altitudes, with limited routes as an immediate solution for traveling in crowded urban areas, or between adjacent cities. The operation of Uber Air is basically similar to Uber's current car-sharing service, the difference is that it will be an air transport service with a more complex management mechanism. to tell.
Joby Aviation is one of the first aviation vehicle manufacturers to sign a cooperation agreement with Uber in the Uber Air project. Joby Aviation will be the vehicle supplier for Uber Air, these are all fully-powered small direct-lift aircraft, developed with the help of JetBlue and Toyota. Initial evaluation results show that Joby Aviation's flying taxis are relatively stable, low noise and especially environmentally friendly.
Under the current plan, the first three cities will be piloted by Uber to pilot aviation taxi services, including Dallas, Los Angeles (USA) and Melbourne (Australia). Test flights will begin as early as 2020, while accompanying facilities are expected to be completed by 2023.
