Troubleshoot computer problems that do not start
Why don't we try to find out if there is any way we can fix the problem without losing all the data in the installation drive?
Network Administration - Have you ever encountered a situation when you are booting your computer, but does your computer restart automatically? If you encounter such a situation, you will probably think about reinstalling Windows, so why not try to find out if there is any way to fix the problem without losing all the data in C drive?
Here the first priority is the retrieval of important data. Computer recovery is a secondary task.
If you have backed up your data periodically, your problem is just restoring the system.
On another computer, download the Puppy Linux version and burn it to a CD-ROM. This is an .iso file, double clicking on the file will show the burner. If the burner does not appear, download and install ISO Recorder. Puppy is not the best solution for Linux but it has those advantages that are small, fast and easy to use in Windows.
Boot it on another computer, to make sure that the disc has been successfully written. Then boot on the computer is broken.
If your computer does not boot the CD and it boots into Windows, you are experiencing a hardware problem. If you don't have enough knowledge to diagnose and fix a computer, take it immediately to the nearest repair shop. However, it is important to remind the staff there that your first priority is to recover the data contained in the hard drive. Then they will take measures to save data in your drive.
If you boot into Linux, copy what you can to the external hard drive. You can then try to fix Windows.
Remove the CD and boot up the computer, press F8 before the Windows login screen appears. At the boot menu, select Last Known Good Configuration to restore your Registry to a better state than before.
If the system still doesn't work, reboot and press F8 again, but now you should boot in Safe Mode . Once in this mode, select Start , All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore . Follow the wizard's instructions and select an appropriate backup.
What if you can't access the Boot Menu? Or maybe but can't fix the system problem? You will then have to use the diagnostic and repair tools that Microsoft provides on Windows XP CD and Vista DVD.
In the absence of such discs, you can download the versions of the XP Recovery Console CD and Vista Recovery Disc. Both are .iso files (like Puppy Linux) and you can burn to CD. When you boot, you'll see that they are exactly the same as the installation disks of XP and Vista, except when you want to install Windows, you'll get an error message. Only their repair tools work.
If your computer does not boot for Windows XP operating system, boot from a real XP CD or Recovery Console CD. At the main screen, press ' r ' (Repair) to launch Recovery Console. Completely like DOS, the command prompt environment provides some useful repair tools:
bootcfg: View and edit the boot.ini file
diskpart: Manage partitions (Note can also destroy them)
Fixboot: Record the boot sector of the partition
Fixmbr: Modify the master boot record
If your computer fails to run Vista, boot from a real Vista DVD or Vista Recovery Disc. Click the Repair your computer button and then Startup Repair . Everything from here will be done quite simply .
If none of these methods help you, then you must take the last step to reinstall Windows.
