The world's first AI candidate to participate in the general election
AI Steve is a virtual candidate created by artificial intelligence (AI) whose prototype is businessman Steve Endacott, who will participate in this year's general election in the Brighton Pavillion area - a coastal town in the south of England.
According to the plan, on July 4, the general election in the UK will take place. At that time, voters nationwide will elect representatives for each area they live in.
This year's general election in Brighton is more special, when for the first time people have the option to vote for a "virtual" candidate - AI Steve.
AI Steve was designed by businessman Endacott's Neural Voice Company. This name will also appear on the ballot.
Mr. Endacott is an independent candidate running at Brighton Pavillion, and will directly participate in meetings and parliamentary sessions. However, this businessman only plays the role of leader, AI Steve will make policy decisions.
AI Steve will interact with locals in real time on topics ranging from housing to trash collection and immigration. This AI will also come up with policy ideas before consulting with people.
However, many voters are skeptical about voting for an AI candidate because they feel that AI cannot effectively represent their interests in parliament.
The British Election Commission stated clearly that Mr. Endacott will have to directly participate in parliament if he wins the election, not any AI version of him.
