After just one week of launch, PlayStation Classic - Sonny's nostalgic-designed gaming console was successfully hacked by two hackers nicknamed "Yifan Lu" and "madmonkey1907" to play comfortable games from USB. .
This special PlayStation version was released on December 3, with a 32-bit console, running on a plug-and-play platform and using an open source software. Sony only gave it the 20 most memorable ancient games of the company.
After successfully unlocking the PlayStation Classic, these two hackers shared how to do it on social networks and it doesn't seem complicated.
According to Ars Technica, Sony has already installed the necessary tools for PS Classic unlocking right inside the device, not hiding it. These two hackers took advantage of this vulnerability to bring the source code of the device to an external device. They then discovered the key to decoding the most sensitive software hidden by Sony inside PS Classic itself.
Since then, the console-hacking community has used a USB to copy more games into PS Classic to play. For example, Yifan Lu playing "Crash Bandicoot" through a USB device connected to PS Classic or another hacker on the GitHub community called Pat Hartl also created a tool called "BleemSync", allowing Users can easily hack PS Classic at home.
Most gamers buy PlayStation Classic gaming consoles for the purpose of collecting the main game. As for hackers, they unlock PS Classic not only to play older games but also to run newer games on Sony devices, even creating emulators to play games from other platforms such as games from SNES, PS1 and N64 for example.
