Recently, Mozilla has just officially announced it will not continue developing Firefox for this OS anymore. Earlier this week, Firefox Vice President Johnathan Nightingale ordered the engineering team and the release managers to stop developing Firefox for Windows 8.

Explaining the move, Mozilla said that the company does not have the resources and scale to develop Firefox for too many platforms. Therefore, the company must select and stop Firefox development for the Modern UI interface. According to Mozilla, Firefox for Windows 8 does not help the company achieve its goals, such as how Firefox for Android, Mac, Linux, and Windows (older versions of Windows 8) do.

Mozilla said that with Firefox Beta versions on the desktop, the company recorded many millions of users every day and experimented, giving feedback to them before the official release. In the beta version of Firefox for Windows 8, the number of users has never exceeded 1000 people. Having too few users means that there will be less feedback from the actual testing process; This leads to the risk that Firefox will continue to see bugs when the official version is released. This in turn makes the company lose more resources to fix errors. Although Windows 8 users have regrets, the decision has been made, and those who need a browser-friendly browser will have to switch to Chrome or use Microsoft's default Internet Explorer browser.
