Microsoft will tell you what your data is being collected in Windows 10 in the next update

Microsoft has officially introduced a new feature in the update of Windows 10, which is to let users know what data it will collect from their device. Mircosoft hopes, this feature will bring about transparency in collecting data and reducing users' fears.

In order to help improve the operating system and make product decisions, Microsoft collected a series of anonymous Windows 10 data from users. With the new feature added in Windows 10, users will be allowed to decrypt the data sent to Microsoft servers.

To see all the data that Microsoft will collect from your Windows device, users access Settings -> select Privacy -> Windows Diagnostic Data Viewer (temporarily translate Windows Diagnostic Data Viewer ).

List of data that Microsoft will collect:

1. Common data: operating system name, version, device ID, device type .
2. Connection and configuration of the device: interface and settings, features and capabilities, peripheral devices and network connection information .
3. Product and service performance data: current status, performance and reliability, energy consumption when watching movies, querying device files.
4. Usage data of the services: detailed information about the use of operating systems, devices, applications and services.
5. Storage and software settings: device updates, installed applications, installation history.

In addition, Microsoft improved the Privacy settings panel, added a tab dedicated to activity history to help users see what data they have stored in their Microsoft account. Even, users can manage and edit the data collected in the Privacy settings panel at any time. In addition, Microsoft also provides the ability to view and manage media data, export data from the control panel and delete specific items in this update.

Microsoft has promised these new features will be available in the next major update of Windows 10. They are currently being tested and may be released in the spring.
