Microsoft officially announced the Windows 11 'Moment 5' update
As expected, Microsoft officially announced the Windows 11 'Moment 5' update on the last day of February 2024.
This update is currently being gradually rolled out to Windows 11 users, and Microsoft also plans to fully enable the new feature in March 2024 optional non-security updates. Eligible devices will automatically received the "Moment 5" update on April 9, 2024, as part of the April 2024 Patch Tuesday.
"Moment 5" is essentially a relatively small update that focuses on improving accessibility, sharing, Windows 365, screen casting, Windows Settings, etc. This update also contains a number of improvements for Windows Autopatch to give IT admins more control and streamline the update management process.
Here is a brief list of new additional features in Windows 11 "Moment 5":
- Voice Access now supports more languages, custom commands, and additional actions.
- Narrator now lets you preview with a natural voice, use new keyboard shortcuts to describe images, etc
- Windows now allows content sharing with more applications.
- Windows may offer screen casting when multitasking and helpful links if you have trouble connecting.
- Snap Layouts can predict which apps you want to arrange and in what layout.
- New features for Windows 365, such as dedicated mode, passwordless authentication, fast account switching, and more.
You can check out Microsoft's support page for all the new features of Windows 11 Moment 5, which Microsoft calls a Windows configuration update.
If you don't want to wait for the April 2024 update, you can install the "Moment 5" update now. Note that new features are rolling out gradually so you might not get them yet, even with the latest optional updates.
