Microsoft Office 2019 will only work on Windows 10

At the same time, Microsoft also extended support time for business users and education groups.

Microsoft has revealed that Office 2019 applications will only run on Windows 10. On articles supporting Windows and Office services, Microsoft revealed that you will have to update to Windows 10 if you want to use the latest version of Office without buying an Office 265 package.

This is clearly a move to push businesses still hesitant to buy Office 365 packages because the Office 2019 release will no longer run on Windows 7 and Windows 8. This does not affect Office on the Mac because this is a separate product, with a completely different release schedule.

Microsoft also changed the time to support Office 2019 with 5 years of major support and 'approximately 2 years of additional support'.

Office 2019 office suite (to be launched in the second half of 2018) includes familiar applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook along with Exchange, SharePoint and Skype server versions for businesses.

Microsoft plans to release Preview version by the middle of this year, primarily for businesses that do not use the Office 365 version in the cloud. In addition, they also expanded support for Windows 10 for businesses and customers of education groups running certain OS versions. Windows 10 versions 1511, 1607, 1703 and 1709 are supported for another 6 months to help users switch to the latest versions of Windows 10.
