Learn About Accent Oracle: AI That Can Predict Accents With Extreme Accuracy
Even if you think your accent is too good to be detected, Accent Oracle can prove you wrong.
These days, non-native English speakers are so fluent that detecting their accents can be a challenge. But even if you think your accent is undetectable, Accent Oracle can prove you wrong—and that's a little scary.
What is Accent Oracle?
Accent Oracle is an AI created by BoldVoice, a voice training company. BoldVoice is an AI-powered language learning platform, but it's not like your typical English tutor. It doesn't teach you vocabulary or grammar, but focuses on refining your American accent.
Accent Oracle, however, flips the script. Instead of training your voice, it identifies your voice. You are given a short script to read and Oracle analyzes and guesses your voice in seconds.
It's powered by a huge database of non-native speakers, meaning it doesn't rely on stereotypes like "if they pronounce X like Y, then they're from Z". Instead, it picks up on subtle nuances in speech and spots things you'd never notice.
When Oracle Knows Too Much
To test it out, launch the Accent Oracle application and click "Try Me" . You will be given a short text to read aloud.
Here is an example recording. Listen and before you scroll down, try to guess where this person is from?
Here's what Oracle analyzed, and the results are spot on.
The person in the example is actually Persian. What's really remarkable is the detailed analysis below the results. It's clear that this person's accent has 17% Turkish influence. Amazingly, Oracle has gone beyond the accent and tapped into the speaker's origins in a similar way to a DNA test.
If you're curious about how your accent might be recognized—or just want to have some fun—try Accent Oracle. Who knows, you might just discover a hidden layer of your identity in your syllables.
