According to Bloomberg, Apple is developing a large language model that can run entirely on its devices instead of operating through the cloud like most AI services today.
Sources from Bloomberg said that Apple's artificial intelligence (AI) engine may perform worse than its competitors in some cases due to limitations from running directly on the device. However, the tool will have faster processing speed and increase user privacy.
Apple may cooperate with Google and other AI service providers to reduce limitations on its AI tools.
Last March, Apple was said to have negotiated with Google to integrate the Gemini tool on the iPhone.
The upcoming iOS 18 update is expected to bring many changes, becoming the most important iOS operating system update ever.
According to sources from Tom's Guide, iOS 18 may introduce a chatbot designed by Apple specifically for the iPhone. Apple may incorporate major language models into its virtual assistant Siri, providing an improved version of the virtual assistant, with the ability to perform more complex tasks through voice control.
In addition, the Cupertino giant can also integrate AI into many other applications such as creating automatic playlists in Apple Music, writing reports or creating presentations in Pages and Keynote.
It is expected that iOS 18 will be officially announced at the WWDC 2024 event taking place next June.
