How to transfer data to a new Xbox 360 hard drive
If you have purchased a new Xbox 360 system and equipped with a larger hard drive, then it is important to transfer data from your old drive to the new one.

This is a fairly easy and quick process and will transfer all your music, saved content, downloaded games, etc. to a new hard drive.
Special adapter cable provided by Microsoft is required to transfer data between the old Xbox 360 drive and the new hard drive. Cables are purchased separately and are not very expensive. You can also borrow cables from friends if you have one, but it's best to use a Microsoft product.
Important note : Only official hard drives and cables work for the Xbox, any third-party drives may not be backward compatible or formatted correctly.
Update the Xbox 360 software
Xbox 360 software must be updated before data transfer begins.
1) From the handle, select the Guide button .
2) Select System Setting from Settings.
3) Now select Network Settings.
4) Select Wired Network or wireless network name if asked.
5) Select Test Xbox Live Connections .
6) Select Yes to update the console software when prompted.
Note : In the PC, there is Disk Management tool to format the drive, but in Xbox, there are other ways as below.
How to transfer data from an old hard drive to a new hard drive
Choose the best external hard drive and follow these steps:
1) Turn off the console.
2) Remove the old hard drive from the Xbox Console and insert the new hard drive.
3) Now, replace the new hard drive on the console. In the case of a completely new system, skip this step.
4) On the hard drive of the destination console, attach the transfer cable and connect it to the old hard drive for data transfer.
5) Now turn on the system and you will see a message appear asking if you want to transfer data.
6) Select 'Yes, transfer to console' .
7) Select Start.
8) After the transfer is completed, simply disconnect the old cable and hard drive from the system.
Depending on the amount of data, this process can take several hours, so please be patient. When you are finished transferring data, simply log in to Xbox Live.
Note : You can only transfer data from a small hard drive to a large hard drive.
