How to Jailbreak an iOS Device
Jailbreaking an Apple device allows you to interfere with settings that are usually limited by this company. This will void the warranty, but the process can be easily reversed to avoid detection. Follow these instructions to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
Perform Backup
Check iTunes settings. Make sure you have updated iTunes to the latest version. If you use Windows, you need to install iTunes from the Apple website. Mac computers always come with iTunes installed. You need to create a backup point to restore in case the device jailbreak fails.
Plug the device into the computer. Open iTunes. Click on the device in the sidebar. Select 'Back Up Now'. This allows you to back up all your data, contacts, and settings.
Disable screen lock on iOS devices. If you set a screen lock password, you'll need to disable them during the jailbreak process, then re-enable them once you're done.
You can disable the password by opening Settings, selecting General, and then selecting Passcode Lock. You are asked to enter your password, then adjust your password options. Remember to switch to off mode.
After completing the jailbreak process, you can enable the password with the above operations.
iTunes backup passwords also need to be disabled during the jailbreak process. On iTunes, click on the device and uncheck the 'Encrypt Local Backup' dialog box. You need to enter the password and back up the device again.
Check iOS version. There are different jailbreak methods depending on the iOS version you are using. To check the version, follow these steps:
Open Settings on the device.
Select General .
Select About .
The iOS version is displayed in the Version section .
There is currently no way to untether an iOS device running version 6.1.3. Untethered means the device doesn't need to be connected to the computer every time it starts up. To perform constraint cracking, follow the method in the next section.
Jailbreak iOS 6.0 -6.1.2 or iOS 7.0 - 7.0.4 Devices
Download evasi0n for iOS 6 or evasi0n 7 for iOS 7. To jailbreak version 6.0.0-6.1.2 or iOS 7.0 - 7.0.4, download the jailbreak software at [1].
This is a no-strings-attached jailbreak method. This means that after a successful jailbreak, the device is permanently jailbroken, until you reverse the process yourself or download an update from Apple to patch the jailbreak.
Make sure to download a version compatible with your computer's operating system. Personal computers need to run operating systems from Windows XP or higher. Mac requires OS X.6 or later.
Close all applications running on the device. Remember to return to the Home Screen. Make sure the device is still connected to the computer.
You may lose data in running apps while jailbreaking, so return to the home screen before proceeding.
Close iTunes on your computer. Run the evasi0n software. Click on the 'Jailbreak' button. The jailbreak process may take a few minutes. Do not run any programs on the computer and do not touch the device's power button.
Too many programs running on your computer can slow down the jailbreak process and interrupt the installation, forcing you to go through the entire process again. Turning off the power while jailbreaking may cause the phone to stop working.
When asked, run the Jailbreak application. This application appears on the device's home screen. Tap on the app to continue the jailbreak process.
Open Cydia. After completing the jailbreak process, an application named Cydia will appear on the home screen. This is an alternative application to Apple's iTunes, you can interfere with applications that are not included in Apple's terms.
Cydia needs to download data before completing the jailbreak. The phrase 'Reloading Data' will appear and then disappear.
Install intermediary applications. The device has been jailbroken. Remember to re-enable your password and screen lock. You can install intermediary apps to your iOS device.
Jailbreak iOS Devices 5.1.1
Back up your device. Follow the steps above. Close iTunes when finished and leave the device connected to the computer.
Download Absinthe 2, a free jailbreak software. Absinthe is one of the easiest programs to use to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1. The software also provides jailbreak for iOS 5.01 following the same operation. Run the software and select the 'Jailbreak' button.
This is a no-strings jailbreak. This means that after a successful jailbreak, the device is permanently jailbroken, until you reverse the process yourself or download an update from Apple to patch the jailbreak.
The device will automatically proceed with the jailbreak. Follow the on-screen instructions to put the device into DFU mode (Device Firmware Update state). You need to click on 'Jailbreak' again.
Wait a while, the message 'Complete' will appear. The device automatically reboots.
Open the 'Loader' app on the home screen. This application allows downloading and installing Cydia. Cydia is used to search for and install unauthorized applications on Apple devices.
Restart the device again. After that, your device is jailbroken and ready to use.
Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 - iOS 6.1.5 Devices
Download p0sixspwn from [2] to jailbreak 6.1.3 -6.1.5 devices.
If you crack the binding with Redsn0w, just install the p0sixspwn package from Saurik.
Run p0sixspwn and click on the jailbreak button.
Wait for the jailbreak process to complete.
Restore iOS Device
Connect the device to the computer. Make sure it's connected to the computer you're backing up on, otherwise you'll need to access the backup file.
If you back up from iCloud, you don't need to use the computer where you previously backed up.
Open iTunes and select the device. The device is listed in the list on the left pane of the iTunes window. If you don't see that frame, you can select the device in the menu in the upper right corner of iTunes.
Click the Restore button. This button is located in the Summary tab after selecting a device. You are asked if you want to proceed with the backup. Click to agree and the backup will automatically take place. Once completed, the device will reboot.
Choose a restore method If you want to keep your pre-jailbreak settings and apps, select Restore on iCloud Backup or on iTunes Backup. If you want to restore your device to its factory settings, select Set Up as New Device.
When choosing a restore method, select the option that allows you to access the backup you want to restore.
You can back up while the device is jailbroken, and the device is not fully jailbroken when the restore process is complete. Doing this allows you to keep the latest settings and apps from before the jailbreak.
Wait for the restore process to complete. The process can take several minutes. The device will display progress and remaining time on the screen.
Enter your Apple account. When you start using your device, you need to enter your Apple account and password to access apps and cloud data.
