Things to know when resetting the router

Resetting a Belkin router replaces all network settings, including its local IP address, by the manufacturer's default values. Even if the administrator has changed the default address before, resetting the router will change everything back to default.

Resetting the router is only necessary in rare situations, when the device is updated with an incorrect setting or invalid data, such as a firmware upgrade is faulty, causing it to stop responding to love. admin connection

Unplugging or using the router's on / off switch does not cause the router to revert its IP address settings to default. The process of resetting the actual software to the factory default settings must still take place.

Change the default IP address of the router

Every time the home router is powered on, it will use the same private network address unless the admin changes it. Changing the default IP address of the router is necessary to prevent IP address conflicts with other modems or routers already installed on the network.

Some homeowners like to use easy-to-remember addresses. There is no advantage in network performance or security from using any Private IP address compared to other IP addresses.

Change the router's default IP address without affecting the other administrative settings of the router, such as the DNS address value, network mask (subnet mask) or router's password. It also doesn't have any effect on Internet connection.

Some Internet service providers monitor and allow home networks based on the modem or media (Control Access Control (MAC) access of the modem, not their local IP address.
