How to find and use Bronze in Minecraft

Here's how to find and use Copper in Minecraft, including how to craft items from Copper and how to bleach Oxidized Copper

In Minecraft version 1.17, Copper metal appears as a new block and ore that you can collect and craft. In crafting form, Copper Nuggets are used to craft new Minecraft 1.17 items such as Binoculars or Lightning Rods.

Although Copper is relatively easy to mine, there are certain things that you need to know about it. Such as the process being oxidized or the extent of its extraction. Here are some points that you need to know about how to mine and use copper in Minecraft.

How to find Bronze in Minecraft 1.17

To have Copper Ores in Minecraft, you need to find Copper Ores. Just like you find Coal or Iron Ore, Copper ore is gathered together into many blocks at once.

Bring a stone pickaxe or iron pickaxe or higher. Because copper ore mined with a wooden pickaxe or with other items will not drop anything.

Copper ore spawns from Y: 0 up to Y: 96, but has a higher chance of spawning around layers in between. So start your search a little below sea level (Y: 63). If it spawns between classes Y: 0 and Y:16, it will be a Deepslate copper ore and more difficult to mine than regular copper ore and also quite rare. So it's best to just choose normal Copper Ore.

When mining copper ore, you will only receive Raw Copper. You need to smelt this raw material to create Bronze Ingots. Just put raw copper in the stove and add charcoal or coal to cook copper ingots.

Now that you have copper ingots, you can use them to craft the following items.

  1. Solid Copper: Use 9 Copper Ingots to create a smooth and solid copper block
  2. Lightning Rod: Placing three copper ingots on top of each other will produce a Lightning Rod
  3. Binoculars: Place a piece of amethyst on two copper ingots to make Binoculars.

Similar to real life, copper in Minecraft will change color due to oxidation. You can see the difference in the picture (from left to right). The initial copper color will be the characteristic color of copper and if oxidized, it will gradually turn blue.

You can erase the copper color, this way only keeps the current color but does not help return the original copper color. Just take a hive and apply it to the copper block, also you can use the ax to scrape the copper block.

Finally, if you don't do the above, a lightning strike on the copper block will help eliminate oxidation completely.
