Method 1 of 2:

Windows

    Head to the Eclipse link at http://eclipse.org/downloads/.

    The website will figure out what OS you are running on and provide you with a list of downloads. Choose the 32 or 64 bit version next to "Eclipse Classic" depending on what type of operating system you are running.

    Choose the option next to the big green arrow that says (http) somewhere in it, then eclipse will begin downloading.

    While it's downloading head to the Java link at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html. Scroll down a bit and click the download button in the Java SE 7 row and under the JDK column. Download and install that if you haven't done so before.

    Once Eclipse has downloaded extract it to a place you will remember. For example My Documents.

    Open the folder you extracted eclipse to and double-click on Eclipse.exe

    You will be asked to choose a work-space, make a new folder somewhere you will remember and click next.
