Since the beginning of this year, Google has tested a number of major changes to its search engine, making search results only display a single direct answer instead of links like before.

The reason for this change is because Google thinks that displaying a series of links will confuse users and a direct answer will be a better solution in some cases.

For example, users want to know what time it is in the US or how much 2 + 2 calculation results are? Displaying a single direct answer with such questions will help the user's query process be faster and simpler than displaying a series of links below.

Google said, initially this change was applied to time-related queries, calculations and a few unit conversions. The links below will be hidden, but users can still click on the extension to view.

Currently, Google only applies this feature on mobile web browsers, Google Search and Google Search applications. This change will be applied on the web browser on the computer in the future.
