Gift for Linux users on Christmas, Spotify's desktop client software

Those who use Linux and love Spotify have experienced several difficult years. In 2016, Spotify stopped further development of client software, making users choose to either use the old client version or use the web application.

Those who use Linux and love Spotify have experienced several difficult years. In 2016, Spotify stopped further development of client software, making users choose to either use the old client version or use the web application.

Fortunately, just before Christmas, Spotify returned to Linux as a "snap" version, the Universal App can run well on Linux Mint, Manjaro, Debian, Open Suse, Solus and even Ubuntu.

Snap is a bit different from regular versions. It can work on any computer, developers do not need to offer different builds for each different distro core. Only one Build, used above all.

A Spotify snap is available on every Linux kernel

Download and install Spotify on the Linux Snap version, the results are quite impressive. The sound quality is good, the UI responds well and of course there are all the familiar features of Spotify like playlists, videos, podcasts .

Users can also control playback by function keys above the keyboard, which cannot be done using the web version without a plugin.

Snap can update itself, meaning you will have the latest and most stable version without manually updating the collection. Compared to macOS and Windows, Spotify users on Linux are not much, but this step also helps them keep loyal customers, and can attract new customers. The Linux community is also happy that I am no longer considered a second-class customer.
