Compare 3D Touch and Haptic Touch technology on iPhone
What is the difference between 3D Touch and Haptic Touch technology on iPhone? Compare 3D Touch and Haptic Touch on iPhone, why did Apple leave 3D Touch?
On this year's iPhone 11 series, Apple has decided to remove the 3D Touch feature on the iPhone, and replace it with another technology called Haptic Touch.
Although few people seem to notice, these two technologies will change the way Apple followers use them. So what are these two technologies? And how are they different? We invite you to join us to find out in this article!
1. Concept of 3D Touch and Haptic Touch
3D Touch is a touch recognition feature on the iPhone screen, capable of recognizing the force of the touch (strong or light) or holding, to give different responses. This feature appeared from the iPhone 6S, all the way to the iPhome XS Max, and to the iPhone 11 series, it was replaced.
Specifically, when you lightly touch, the device will react as usual: Surf, open applications, perform operations as usual . When you touch a strong enough force, the device will understand the extended settings or quick actions of that application.
And Haptic Touch technology is similar to most Android devices today, the response of the screen to the operation will depend on the time of touching or holding.
And when you hold it long enough, the device will allow to move icons or perform quick actions of that App, and vibrate slightly. This is an improvement of Taptic Touch technology that has been around for quite a while.
2. Compare 3D Touch with Haptic Touch
The first iPhone with Haptic Touch was the iPhone XR, but this was a feature cut of an Apple's 'soft' device, so no one noticed. It wasn't until the iPhone 11 Series was released that this cut really mattered.
The reason Apple removed 3D Touch technology from the iPhone XR is simple: reduce production costs. Because 3D Touch requires a force sensor under the screen, and you can imagine with so many units sold, how much money they have saved by cutting that technology.
As for the iPhone 11 series, this reduction is probably because they are having problems integrating the sensor under the OLED panel.
The removal of 3D Touch could give more room for the size of the sensors, for the battery or some other component. This will benefit the configuration of later iPhone lines.
If you compare the features, the two are the same. However, 3D Touch gives users the ability to act faster and is one of the more futuristic technologies than Haptic Touch.
For example, 3D Touch will have 3 ways to respond to your actions on the screen: Select, preview content or quick actions, while with Haptic Touch you can only select and preview, or select and act quickly. never mind.
It is a fact that few people use 3D Touch on old iPhones, many people do not even know its existence, but when I hear Apple removed this feature on new iPhones, I feel sorry. Really strange ^^!
3. Conclusion
There are things when you lose it, then you will find it useful and then you will regret it, here I am talking about 3D Touch technology on iPhone. Haptic Touch is an equivalent replacement to 3D Touch in basic tasks, but it is a less luxurious technology.
