Today, owning a laptop is no longer a difficult task. For many people, laptops are almost unrelated, an effective tool to support work and study. Protecting and preserving the laptop carefully is quite important. One of the simple and inexpensive measures to do this is to use free Laptop Alarm software.
Laptop Alarm is a completely free software, the latest version 2.0, size 312 KB, runs directly without installation, download here, compatible with all laptops using Windows 98/2000 / XP.
Using Laptop Alarm is very simple. First, when you run the program, you get a warning that you should not plug the headset into your laptop because it will not hear the siren and if you hear the whistle through the headset it is not good for the ear because the sound is Dynamic is great. At the program window, you check in situations that need alarm such as Loss of AC Power (Shut down power), Shutdown / Log off (shutdown), Unplug of USB Mouse (remove mouse from USB port) and Mouse Movement (mouse movement).
Next, select Options. Enter the passcode (unlock) password. In the Mousement detection section, the smaller the parameter you choose, the higher the sensitivity. I recommend selecting a parameter of 5 instead of 50.
The section below is the item SMS Alarm Service. This is a paid service when alerting via SMS. You can register alerts via email (free service with SMS Alarm, although not very effective). To use, select Sign Up for SMS credit Now. Then you enter your phone number. Note, the phone number must be international. For example, your number is 0906333911, then enter it as +84906333911. After that, you enter an email to activate the service.
You need to enter your email and password, Click Sign Up to enter the registration Web site. Click OK to finish. The average price for 5 SMS is EUR 3, 10 SMS is EUR 5 and 25 SMS is EUR 10. You can pay via Visa which is very popular in Vietnam.
Now, to lock the computer, click the Lock Computer button to lock Windows and lock the computer. If someone tries to steal your laptop, most of them will do one of the above actions. Meanwhile, Laptop Alarm will increase the volume of Windows to the maximum and emit a loud and jarring siren accompanied by a screen that requires Unlock Code set by you.
You need to set a password for your Windows account because if you don't set a password, the bad guys can easily go back to the Windows environment and turn off the Laptop Alarm software before stealing your laptop.
Laptop Alarm, however, is just a tool to limit the theft. But also a safety warning for you.
