3D face recognition on Mate 20 Pro is easily fooled by two people just the same about hair and beard

YouTube channel AndroidPIT immediately tested the 3D face recognition feature on the Mate 20 Pro, but the results made many people disappointed.

Huawei's latest Mate 20 Pro, the latest smartphone launched a few days ago, is equipped with a fingerprint sensor under the screen and face detection for the device to be unlocked quickly and safely. YouTube channel AndroidPIT immediately tested the 3D face recognition feature on this smartphone but the results made many people disappointed.

Specifically, in the test of YouTube channel AndroidPIT, a person who does not wear face scanning glasses to the system of Pro Mate 20 noted. After that, this guy unlocked it at less than a second and the device worked normally. But when another person tried to open the phone (this person is different from his face, glasses, just like the head and beard), the Mate 20 Pro's identity system still easily bypasses.

This makes them doubtful about the security of the Mate 20 Pro, is the manufacturer's advertising about its security safe?

According to GSMArena, the Mate 20 Pro in YouTube channel test AndroidPIT may be a trial version, so there are still many bugs and they will be fixed in the commercial version that is about to be sold. However, many people also said that this feature of Huawei has not really achieved good results as its advertising.

In theory, the error rate on the 3D face detection sensor system is only 1 part per million, much higher than 2D security and is expected to replace the fingerprint sensor in the future.

The 3D face detection feature was put on iPhone X by Apple last year, but the system still misidentifies some cases like twins, mother and daughter, brothers in a family .
