Virtualization technology is a salient feature of Intel Core 2 Duo processors equipped with Vaio laptops. Sony has not enabled all Vaio laptops' BIOSes to work with Intel's hardware virtualization mode.

Sony's Marketing Manager shared on his personal blog that Sony did not activate the technology because users had not previously needed it. In addition, enabling the virtualization feature makes the vulnerable computer (virus) capable of digging into the operating system's structure and disabling user-side capabilities. But before the "excitement" of many people with the XP Mode that Windows 7 operating system brings, Sony will consider the possibility of activating this technology on Vaio laptops but there will be no Vaio Z. Specifically, The Japanese electronics firm will re-enable virtualization technology - Intel VT, supporting the upcoming Windows XP Mode.

Until then users of Vaio Z laptops or other Vaio series will not run XP Mode on Windows 7, that is, the application software that is written for Windows XP will not be installed. and use on Windows 7.
