The world's most engaging video app TikTok invades television
TikTok's top leaders, the most appealing to young people, are debating the idea of making reality TV shows revolve around their application platform.
According to two well-informed sources, TikTok is discussing the reality show of the same name with its stormy video application. This is part of an effort to expand the appeal of the platform as well as to create different ways of using video.
However, this idea is still in a preliminary stage and circulated internally. Currently, TikTok has not yet decided on the format and content of the program.
Tiktok has had 2 billion downloads in the last 3 years, making it an indispensable thing in teen life alongside Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube. Like other apps, TikTok initially reaches out to teenagers but a TV program can help it reach an older population.
The producers cited Fox's "Beat Shazam" as an example. Led by singer and actor Jamie Foxx, the program asked the teams to determine which songs were played at a faster rate than usual. The team with the highest score will enter the final round to determine the prize amount. This program has entered season 4.
However, it is not possible to determine what the reality show of TikTok will be like. Other information about the project seems to be completely confidential. However, it is likely that the leaders of TikTok will accelerate the launch of the program because it is a good way for the platform to be more widely advertised to the majority of the population.
At the moment, the content on Tiktok is quite diverse. Celebrities also made short videos and posted them on the platform. Names like Jennifer Lopez, Kevin Hart and John Krasninski all have TikTok accounts. The green tick makes it easy for fans to recognize them and follow.
Any application needs music. With TikTok, the songs commonly used in the platform's short videos quickly became a global hit. Record labels have also started changing the name of the song to make it easier to find on TikTok.
TikTok usage has increased sharply in the past month, when billions of people were trapped indoors because of the Covid-19 season social distance measures. Being at home means they will use their phones more and TikTok is one of the beneficiaries.
As the world's most popular app outside of China, TikTok is really storming, threatening the position of giants like Facebook.
TikTok is a product of ByteDance, known in China as Douyin.
