Before turning it off, we should also find out what it is, right? IP Helper (iphlpsvc) also full name is Internet Protocol Helper Service, its task is to retrieve and modify information, network configuration settings on Windows 10.

To put it simply, IP Helper allows us to use special connection protocols such as 6to4, ISATAP, Port Proxy, Teredo and of course IP-HTTPS.

In addition, because it is a service that comes with Windows 10 in particular, and previous versions of Windows in general, almost IP Helper is not faked by viruses.

Way #1. Turn off IP Helper using Services Management Console

Since most services on Windows 10 don't have a specific *.exe file, you can't go to the service's settings to disable or uninstall them like software on your computer, but We have to use a dedicated tool.

Speaking of which, many of you probably know what tool I'm talking about – Yes, it's the Services Management Console (services.msc)

Doing:

Step 1: First, open the Run dialog box (Windows + R) => then enter the command services.msc => and click OK to open the Services Management Console tool.

Alternatively, you can also enter this command into PowerShell, or Command Prompt to do the same thing.

Step 2: In the window containing the list of all services available on Windows 10 currently, scroll down to the letter I - the first letter of the word IP Helper (you can quickly search by clicking on the word "IP"). i on the keyboard until the service name is found)

=> Then you double click on the service named IP Helper to open the service options window.

First of all, please check the status line of IP Helper by looking at the Service Status line, if Running, it means this service is still active => and you press the Stop button to stop it.

Step 3: By default, the Startup Type of IP Helper is Automatic, that is, even though you have stopped it, the next time you start it, the service will still automatically run again.

=> So to stop this service completely => please click on the number down menu in the line Startup Type => then select Disabled => and finally click OK to complete the setup. From now on IP Helper will never run on your Windows again.

1. Automatic: When in this mode, the service will automatically run when we start the machine. However, the service can still turn itself off if necessary.
2. Automatic (Delayed Start): Similar to the above mode, but this mode will start after a period of machine startup.
3. Manual: Manual mode, allowing Windows to launch services as needed (but in reality, there are very few services that start automatically if set to Manual mode)
4. Disabled: Disables the service.
5. Started: A service is starting… and vice versa: Not Started.

Note: If after turning off, you encounter any errors such as not being able to connect to the Internet, please go back to the Services Management Console to turn this feature back on!

Perform:

Step 1: First,  open CMD with Administrator rights  first.

Step 2: In the command line window as below, copy and paste the command line below into the CMD => window and finally press Enter to execute it. (right click to execute paste command) !

REG add 'HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesiphlpsvc' /v Start /t REG_DWORD /d 4 /f

If the return result is The operation completed successfully, it means that the IP Helper service has been disabled, it will not automatically run at the next Windows 10 startup.

Otherwise, check if you have a missing copy, or entered the wrong command, or check if the Command Prompt is being opened in Administrator mode!

Note: And to re-enable this IP Helper service, use the following command:

II. Some services (services) rarely used on Windows 10 you can turn off

1. Frint Spooler: If your computer does not use the printer, you should turn off this service. But instead of choosing Disable, you can choose Manual => then Stop to use it quickly when needed.
2. Superfetch: This is a service that supports system memory management, it is designed with the purpose of reducing the time it takes to load applications in memory. But it's only really good for high-configuration computers, but for mid-range computers, it will basically affect the overall performance of some applications => so you also Consider turning it off.
3. Telephony: In the past, this service was quite useful, it was used for making calls on the Internet via LAN. However, at the present time, there are already too many 3rd party applications that support calling and messaging like Zalo, Facebook, Skype . they are more convenient and useful as => that's why you should turn this off.
4. Application Management: If you do not use  remote computer control software  or you do not want others to be able to control your computer remotely with software such as Teamview, Ultraview, etc., you can also turn off the service. this.
5. Windows Image Acquisition (WIA): This service allows you to get images from scanners and webcams, so if you don't use these devices, you can also turn it off.
6. Computer Browser: Monitor other systems connected to your computer via a shared network, this is for you to consider.
7. Fast User Switching Compatibility: This service allows to change User quickly on Windows, this application is not necessary if you use a personal laptop and do not need to use many Users.
8. Help and Support: Support service from the system, in general, I find this service quite useless, and not really effective for users in Vietnam because it is mostly in English.
9. Messenger: At the time when Windows XP was still popular, it was this service that caused the computer to be attacked, the Spammers sent millions of Spam to the user's computer for the purpose of attack => of course. It's safe now, but if you don't use it, you can turn it off.
10. Net.Tcp Port SSharing Services: If you do not share your computer with anyone, or you do not want to share any files on your computer, you can disable this service.
11. Remote Registry Service: This service allows remote users to edit the Registry Editor on your computer. You should turn this service off.
12. Uninterruptible Power Supply: If you do not use UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for your computer, you can turn off this service.
13. Fax: On Windows 10 operating system, Fax is a third-party service that interferes with the system, if you do not use the Fax machine, you can also turn it off.
14. Tab PC Input Service: Only really useful when you use hybrid computers (2 in 1) such as Surface Pro, Dell XPS… this service will support you to use the function of the pen and ink for the machine. tablet. So if you are not using these hybrid computers, you can turn it off. 
15. System Restore: This service is too familiar to many people, it supports restoring the operating system when there is an error. However, the truth is that many people don't use it, and if you are one of them, consider turning it off.
