Microsoft releases performance patch to prepare for major Windows 10 update
Windows 10 version 21H2 and Windows 11 version 21H2 are expected to launch next October as optional updates for consumers. Prior to this big event, some users received a small patch with the aim of tweaking their computers for the big update.
Before each major update release, Microsoft usually releases patch KB4023057. This patch was first released by Microsoft in 2018 after that it was released many times. KB4023057 is responsible for solving potential problems with the Windows Registry and operating system so that the Windows Update process works more reliably.
KB4023057 was last modified on August 18th. Theoretically, you should be able to install KB4023057 safely, no problem. Here's what patch KB4023057 can do on your computer to improve Windows Update stability:
- It may try to compress files to free up space for upcoming features and important updates
- The update will show a warning if the device is running low on storage space. New options will appear to help users clean up the hard drive
- Microsoft will attempt to reinstall network settings if problems are detected or they are configured to block updates
- It will also clean up registry keys that block updates
- It will also repair damaged or disabled Windows components that led to updates being blocked on your device.
- It can reinstall Windows Update database
- This patch will only appear if it is needed for your computer
Windows 10 version 21H2 coming soon
Windows 10 version 21H2 will be rolled out to users who have updated to version 21H1 (May 2021 update). On the other hand, Windows 11 will be offered to devices with 8th generation Intel processors or higher.
Microsoft is also testing a new feature in Windows 10 version 21H2 to promote Windows 11. If your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements, you will receive a Windows 11 notification in Windows Update with the content. content "This PC can run Windows 11".
Expected, Windows 10 version 21H2 will be released in October next with Windows 11. Currently, both Windows 11 and Windows 10 21H2 can be installed through the Windows Insider program.
