Samsung Unpacked 2023: Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Watch 6, Tab S9 officially launched
Until then, Samsung has officially announced the next Galaxy Unpacked event will be held on July 26.
The Galaxy Unpacked event brings official information about a series of highly anticipated hardware products, which can be considered as Samsung's mainstay in the near future.
We have Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 - the latest foldable smartphone duo on the market to date, Galaxy Tab S9 series - Samsung's flagship Android tablet line, and Watch 6 - a model The first smart watch to run WearOS 4. Let's take a look at the notable highlights on this impressive product series right below.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 secondary screen is the highlight
After a long time with countless rumors and leaks, Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the new product comes with some pretty big changes in terms of design. The first is the appearance of a secondary screen outside the chassis with a size of up to 3.4 inches, much larger than its predecessors, stretching from the hinge to the location of the dual camera cluster. Similar to the Moto Razr Plus, the Flip 5's external display can run Android apps with the full interface.
The next notable upgrade lies in the fully flat foldable hinge design of the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which makes the main crease in the center of the screen significantly dimmer, to increase durability and aesthetics.
Powering the phone is an upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The internal display remains unchanged with a 6.7-inch OLED panel. The Galaxy Z Flip5 comes in a variety of color options including Mint Blue, Indie Gray, Cream Latte, Fancy Purple, as well as a variety of personalized accessories.
With a series of changes and improvements, the good news is that the price of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will remain the same as its predecessor: Starting at $ 999.
Galaxy Z Fold 5: Thinner and lighter
Although the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 does not have many major changes compared to the previous generation, it still comes with some promising improvements to significantly enhance the user experience.
Similar to the Z Flip 5, the Z Fold 5 also comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and a new hinge design that allows the device to fold flat when closed. This means the chassis will be much thinner when closed: Only 13.4mm compared to 14.2mm of the Z Fold 4.
Another notable upgrade lies in the internal screen, which has been increased by 30% in brightness, at 1,750 nits. Galaxy Z Fold5 is available in Icy Blue, Phantom Black and Ivory Cream color versions, and a variety of cases with stylish designs and high applicability.
Despite these small tweaks, the device still costs quite a bit: Starting at $1,799.
Galaxy Watch 6 brings back bezel
Rumors turned out to be true: Samsung has officially revived the physically rotating bezel on the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Samsung's new line of watches comes in the same 43mm and 47mm sizes as the previous generation, with a stainless steel finish.
In addition to the Watch 6 Classic, Samsung also introduced the standard Galaxy Watch 6, in 40mm and 44mm sizes with a solid aluminum case. Both watches have sapphire crystal displays and are slightly larger in size. Galaxy Watch 6 models will also ship with the latest Wear OS 4 and One UI 5 skins, providing updates for sleep tracking, personalized heart rate zones, emergency SOS calls, and more.
- The Watch 6 starts at $299.9 for the 40mm version and $329.99 for the 44mm watch face.
- Watch 6 Classic listed prices from $ 399.99 and $ 429.99 for the 43 mm and 47 mm versions
New Galaxy Tab S9 trio of tablets
For the tablet category, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Tab S9 in three versions: Tab S9, Tab S9+ (Plus) and Tab S9 Ultra with an S Pen in the box. All three Tab S9 versions are equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, OLED screen and IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Not much has changed in terms of key features.
The size on the trio of tablets remains the same, with the S9 having an 11-inch screen, the S9 Plus having a 12.4-inch screen, and the Tab S9 Ultra owning a 14.6-inch screen. In terms of price, the S9 starts at $799.99, while the Tab S9 Plus is $999.99 and the Ultra costs $1,199.99.
