Samsung launched the world's largest SSD hard drive, 30TB storage capacity

This is the largest storage drive on a surface of only 2.5 inches, enough to store up to 5,700 HD movies.

Samsung has just unveiled the introduction of Solid State Drive SSD hard drive with storage capacity up to 30.72TB. This is the largest storage capacity ever seen on a 2.5-inch SSD and is designed for business customers when it comes to finding a storage solution out of a traditional hard drive.

PM1643 is made up of 32 flash 1TB NAND sticks, each containing 16 layers of 512GB V-NAND chips. The capacity of this SSD can hold 5700 HD movies, equivalent to nearly 500 days of continuous movie watching. It also has twice the capacity of the previous largest SSD - the 16TB drive also came out of Samsung in March 2016. Seagate has a 60TB SSD, but its size is larger (3.5 inches).

Serial Attached SCSI drives (SAS) also have impressive read and write speeds, up to 2,100MB / s and 1,700MB / s. This speed is three times faster than the average speed of SATA SSD that you can see on regular desktop and laptop computers.

Although it is unclear when PM1643 will be sold and sold for how much, Samsung said that when it determined the size of the drive, they would expand SAS SSDs by the end of the year, with versions of 16.36TB, 7, and 68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, 960GB and 800GB.

The executive vice president of sales Jaesoo Han said that Samsung will "continue to meet the demand of moving back to the SSD more than 10TB".

Of course, don't expect to see a 30TB SSD on your laptop or desktop in the short term. However, such storage devices are always pioneers and help reduce the price pressure on the market.
