Official iOS 15: Many applications have a new interface, recognize handwriting from photos, save car keys and ID cards to iPhone
iOS 15 isn't a 'makeover' update, instead it continues to improve many aspects of the iPhone experience.
FaceTime adds many interesting features
In a situation where people rely on video calling applications to be able to connect with each other, Apple has made strong upgrades to FaceTime on iOS 15.
- SharePlay: Listen to music, watch videos or share the screen with the other.
- Spatial Audio: Gives an audio experience like two people talking in the same room.
- Filter out background noise for clearer voice.
- Remove the background of the background to highlight the subject.
- Share the link to an incoming FaceTime call with a person or group of people. This link not only allows Apple device users to join the group call, but even Android users and Windows computers can use FaceTime via a web browser.
New lock screen notification interface
iOS 15 has a new lock screen with more neatly displayed notifications. In addition, this lock screen also has a new feature, which allows to aggregate information from many different applications.
Improved Do Not Disturb feature
Do Not Disturb is a feature used when the user does not want to receive notifications from other applications and people.
On iOS 15, on the Messages app, users can signal that they have Do Not Disturb mode on. When someone texts you, they know that their message won't be immediately notified. In an emergency, the person texting you can mark it as an urgent message, and iOS 15 will allow that message's own notification to bypass the Do Not Disturb barrier.
Not stopping there, Apple also brings to iOS a new feature called "Focus". This feature helps users to divide into many different contexts, such as Work or Family. For example, when users set "Work" mode, iPhone will only display notifications related to work applications like Team, Zoom or Slack. Even the home screen will be edited to prioritize showing these apps. In contrast, in "Family" mode, the device will prioritize displaying notifications from relatives, and the main screen will display entertainment applications.
Recognition of handwriting from images
On iOS 15, Apple has significantly improved the ability to recognize text on photos, which the company calls "Live Text".
- Right from the camera app, if a user captures an object containing a lot of characters (like a board or a piece of paper), they will be able to directly extract the characters on it and paste it as text. copy to another application. This feature also works with existing photos in the gallery.
- Unfortunately, Live Text still does not support Vietnamese, but currently only supports English, Chinese, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Portuguese.
Besides text, iOS 15's photo recognition feature can also provide information about pets, artwork, books, places of interest, etc.
Save keys, ID card, driver's license to Wallet app
The Wallet app on the iPhone stores a variety of cards. With the goal of completely replacing the user's wallet, the application now allows users to add ID cards and driver's licenses. However, this feature is currently only licensed for use in the US.
In addition, the Wallet app can now store house/hotel keys and car keys for a limited number of supported hotels and car companies.
New Safari Browser
The Safari browser on iOS 15 is refreshed with the address bar located at the bottom, and users can switch between tabs by swiping this address bar. In addition, it also supports the same extensions (extensions) as on the computer.
Weather app with a more intuitive interface
The Weather application (Weather) on iOS 15 is refreshed in terms of interface. The information is displayed more intuitively with clear descriptive images.
