At 23h50 on April 23, 2018, the APG submarine cable route suffered a loss of 930G of Internet capacity from Vietnam to international travel. The original cause was determined by the cable branch incident at Chongming / APG / China shore station of the APG sea cable. Depending on weather conditions, the repair time is expected to take between 2 and 3 weeks.

But according to information from an Internet service provider (ISP) in Vietnam that participated in the investment and operation of the sea cable APG said, around 18:00 pm on April 25, 2018, after more than 1 day of meeting Incident, Internet connection from Vietnam to international routes on the APG sea cable has been completely restored. VNPT representative also confirmed this information at the same time also said that the cause of this incident is the international source configuration on the cable route.

Asia Pacific Gateway international fiber optic cable - APG has been put into operation since the end of October 2016 and officially operated from mid-December 2016. This international cable route is located under the Pacific Ocean, with connections in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Vietnamese network operators participating in APG include VNPT, Viettel, FPT Telecom, CMC Telecom. APG is about 10,400 km long, capable of providing maximum bandwidth up to 54 Tbps.

According to statistics, since being officially put into use until now, APG cable line has encountered a problem 5 times, respectively on June 20 and December 23, 2017, 6/1, 27 / 2 and April 23, 2018.
