Overview of prerequisites for CCNP exam

CCNP certificate is only for candidates who have at least one year of network experience. Candidates who pass the CCNP will be certified as having the skills necessary to work in businesses as a network technical support, system administrator, network administrator .

Prerequisites for candidates also include Cisco Certified Network Associate certification - Routing & Switching Certification (CCNA).

You can own a CCNA certificate by participating in the 640-802 CCNA single contest within 90 minutes, answering 45 to 55 questions or you can choose the ICND1 640-822 contest.

Passing ICND1 640-822 contest, candidates will receive Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) Certification. This contest takes 90 minutes with 40 to 50 questions in English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Korean, French and Portuguese.

640-816 ICND2 Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 2 within 75 minutes with 40 to 50 questions in English, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Korean, French and Portuguese.

Candidates who complete the competition can receive CCNA certification.

The 642-892 competition will receive CCNP, CCIP and CCDP certification. Exam takes place within 90 minutes with 50 to 60 questions.

You can only attend this contest until July 31, 2010.

Changes in the contest:

Starting from February 10, 2010, some alternative competitions in the CCNP certification exam will be popularized.
These competitions include:

• 642-902 ROUTE - Implementing Cisco IP Routing (takes the place of 642-901 BSCI)

• 642-813 SWITCH - Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks (takes the place of 642-812 BCMSN)

• Languages: English, Japanese.

There is still another contest that has CCNP certification like 642-832 TSHOOT Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks:

• Time: 120 minutes (53 questions)

Candidates can still attend a trial contest for registered candidates: 643-832 TSHOOT Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks, taking place from February 16 to March 26, 2010.

Cisco is expected to free for the first 150 contestants to pass this competition. Other contestants wishing to attend the competition will have to pay a fee ($ 50)

Candidates who pass the 643-832 test will be charged for certification as the official exam.
