Windows Update June 2022 continues to cause many annoying bugs

Microsoft has just updated the official Windows Health Dashboard page to include known bugs that arise after the most recent update.

Specifically, the cumulative update that Microsoft released on June 14 caused problems such as broken WiFi hotspots, inability to sign in to Microsoft 365 and AAD on ARM devices.

WiFi hotspot error

Regarding the WiFi hotspot problem, many users have reported that their Windows computers lose their internet connection every time they connect to an hotspot. This bug affects many different versions of Windows for both server and client, for example Windows 11, Windows 10 and even Windows 7.

The temporary solution is to turn off the WiFi hotspot and find another way to connect to the internet. Microsoft shared about this error as follows:

After installing KB5014697, Windows devices may no longer be able to use the WiFi hotspot feature. When trying to use the WiFi hotspot feature, the host device may lose its internet connection when a client device connects to the access point.

Solution: To alleviate this problem and restore internet access on the host device, you must disable the WiFi hotspot feature. Refer to how to enable/disable WiFi hotspot.

If you must use the WiFi hotspot feature, you can try uninstalling the KB5014697 update.

Unable to sign in to Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory (AAD) on ARM machine

Another annoying problem that KB5014697 causes is that it prevents ARM device users from signing in to their Microsoft 365 and AAD accounts. This bug will affect the ability to sign in, add VPN connections, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook. Affected platforms include client versions of Windows 11 21H2, Windows 10 21H2, Windows 10 21H1, and Windows 10 20H2.

Fortunately, computers with x86 chips from Intel and AMD don't have this annoying problem. Microsoft announced the following:

After installing KB5014697 on a Windows ARM device, you may not be able to sign in with Azure Active Directory (AAD). Applications and services that use AAD to sign in may also be affected. Some other cases that may be affected are VPN, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook. Note: This issue only affects Windows devices that are using ARM processors.

Currently, Microsoft is investigating the cause of the above issues and will soon release an update that fixes the problem. If it's too annoying, you can't wait for the patch, you can temporarily remove the update.
