1. Webcam Error on Windows 10 Anniversary Update
On Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft only allows USB Webcam to use the YUY2 encoding code and does not allow the use of MJPEG codes and H264 streams to compress videos.

To fix this error, you can downgrade the Windows 10 Anniversary Update version to the previous Windows 10 version. However with Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft has "quietly" changed the downgrade time from 30 days to 10 days. If you install the first version of Windows 10 Anniversary Update, you cannot downgrade.
2. Fix Webcam error on Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Registry Editor is a pretty powerful tool, so it can cause errors on your system. So before taking steps to fix the Webcam error, you should proceed to back up the Registry on the system.
First open the Registry Editor window by opening the Start menu, then enter regedit there and press Enter .

On the Registry Editor window, navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows Media FoundationPlatform

Right-click on the Key Platform in the left pane, then select New => DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name this new value EnableFrameServerMode . Next right-click EnableFrameServerMode and set the value in the Value Data frame to 0.

The next step will depend on which version of Windows you use is 32-bit or 64-bit. If you use Windows 10 32-bit version, you do not need to take any further steps.
If you use the 64-bit version, the Registry Editor window you navigate to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWOW6432NodeMicrosoftWindows Media FoundationPlatform
Here you find and right-click the key Platform , select New => DWORD value and name this Value EnableFrameServerMode.
Double-click EnableFrameServerMode and set the value in the Value data frame to 0.
Finally close the Registry Editor window and check if the Webcam crashes or not.
The case after Microsoft fixes the error and if you want to "undo" change again, you take the same steps and delete the EnableFrameServerMode value.
3. Use Registry editing available

If you don't want to edit the Registry Editor manually, you can use the pre-edited Registry.
Download the available Registry and install it here.
After you have downloaded the edited ZIP file, proceed to extract the ZIP file.
Depending on which version of Windows 10 you use is 32-bit or 64-bit, to change Registry settings, double-click the file ' Enable Webcam Workaround (64-bit) ./ reg ' or file ' Enable Webcam Workaround (32-bit) .reg '.
Agree to add information to the Registry and restart any application that has a webcam that doesn't work.
If you want to "delete" Registry settings, double click on the Disable Webcam Workaround.reg file.
