The first website in world history was registered on August 7, 1991.

It is Berners-Lee 's World Wide Web Project website , a British computer scientist considered the father of the web protocol. A year later, another 9 websites appeared.

In 1993, the world had 130 websites and more than 14 million Internet users. The number of websites surpassing the 1 million threshold in 1997, at that time there were more than 120 million Internet users.

In 2007, the number of websites surpassed the 100 million threshold, while the number of Internet users surpassed the 1 billion threshold in 2005.

In June 2013, the world had more than 672 million websites and 2.7 billion Internet users.
