Starlink satellite internet expands globally with new package priced at $200/month
SpaceX recently announced the start of a trial offering of Global Roaming service to users in places where Starlink has not been deployed.
This means that users in most regions of the world can use SpaceX's satellite Internet service.
The package of this service costs 200 USD per month, in addition, users also have to spend 599 USD to buy additional Starlink Kit connected devices.
According to PCMag, SpaceX has now started sending emails inviting new users to try out the new service.
However, according to The Verge, it is not clear how SpaceX will implement the provision of the Internet globally. Currently, in different markets, such as India and Pakistan, SpaceX is still waiting to be licensed to launch the service.
In an email to customers, SpaceX also talked about problems that users may encounter when using its service, such as because the company is still expanding its satellite network, so the Internet connection when roaming sometimes works. Poor performance or signal loss or depending on the market, users may have to pay additional taxes and import fees for Starlink Kit.
Currently, SpaceX is offering a cheaper package, Starlink RV, with a fixed price of 110 USD per month, and users only have to pay an additional 25 USD. But with this package, users can only connect to the Internet within the country they live in.
As for the Global Roaming package, users can use it anywhere, suitable for often moving away from home for a long time.
According to the plan, Starlink will deploy satellite Internet service that will be available in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei in 2023. Two years ago, Starlink also allowed Vietnamese users to register for the service for $99 each. months but then the information was removed.
According to experts, if they want coverage in Vietnam, satellite Internet projects will have to set up a satellite gateway station in Vietnam and have a commercial agreement with Vietnamese enterprises that have been licensed to provide services. telecommunications services via satellite.
