Apple has just confirmed, users can only download OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store to the device when the product is released this summer. This means that the manufacturer will eliminate all forms of normal software distribution, including DVD. The OS X operating system version has just released the Preview version for developers on February 16.

The move was made after Apple introduced the Mac App Store on OS X Snow Leopard. In addition to the new operating system, Mac App Store also allows users to download other software, like the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod. Apple's software as well as some vendors like Adobe and Intuit are distributed through this form.

Initially, Apple feared that the distribution of the software would make the user "uninterested". Therefore, the company offers more options to bring it to Apple Store to install and buy a USB device containing a new operating system. However, when deploying a new form, Apple said it has sold more than 19 million copies of OS X Lion so far, with Snow Leopard users accounting for 30%. Meanwhile, the sale of new operating systems via USB drives is not welcomed by customers as originally planned.
